The weather outside today, we’re all obliged to endure it or enjoy it

On Sunday the weather was awesome. I went for a long walk and took a bunch of flower pictures mostly. The city is starting to come alive but for the most part the landscape is still pretty dreary. Lots of damp green and brown shrubs and lawns so the occasional burst of color supplied by the flowers is a pleasant distraction. I am sure you have all noticed the flower pictures here so you must recognize that I enjoy the macro function on the camera quite a bit.

The lone tulip different from the yellow and purple flowers I have shared here in previous postings.

I got back from the walk around two and my friends Darin and Matt convinced me to go out traipsing again so I obliged.

A ballpoint sticker on a street sign along division. I think Nosmot has pointed out so many times to me that the graffiti is pretty bad in Portland and that taggers aren't very imaginative. I realize it is vandalism but hey if it's worth doing it's worth doing right, right? Anyway I snapped this because although it isn't great it does look like it took some time to make.

An unrecognisable face stenciled sticker also on Division.

Really cool squid stencil on a temporary road work sign on Division.

Very weird self portrait in a beer mug.

Okay, here is where I tell why Darin and Matt wanted to walk. PUB CRAWL.

Nice wheat paste still on Division.

Bar number four. RINGS.

I thought I might make a call for that price.

The United States of America's 3 time world champion Freestyle Free Walker, Darin Chase pulls off one of his patented one handed 180 front side pinion grinds.

Uh, you had to be there.

What did you do?

What does TAD stand for?

It's that time again kids, cell phone camera dump. Left over tidbits from the great vast verizon.

Dream Car anyone.

Photoshopped panorama of the whole car. 1975 I think.

Dr Medz on the stop sign in front of the Fresh Pot on Mississippi.

Another pizza shop etched mirror Nerd.

I can't quite make it out but it looks cool. Crowbar bathroom.

Crowbar bathroom facial collage.

Sad Bear saying Mildred on Hawthorne.

Self Portrait in Bathroom Mirror. Do you like my mustache?

Shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say come unto me

I give you a walk in the hood. Simply a night of warm weather from the end of last week. I am so glad I brought my camera.

Start the tour out with a few religious shots. Come Unto Me, makes me laugh for some reason. Maybe it is the wire outline of Jesus?

A post card tacked to a pole near my house was also good for a laugh.

How many fingers do you see? A glove fit for a cartoon character perhaps?

Cute red balloon sticker.

Nerds are fun. This is on Division street a little bit further down then the LB Market.

The horses are out in force in my neighborhood. Bronze.

My little Pink.

My Little Blue.

A little Big Kid Fun.

Okay, I am not quite sure what this is but it is cool. Looks like a muffler/marker tip, condom with a screwed head. Perhaps a air nozzle for a bike tire?

Any guesses?

Are You Jealous?

I know you hate me guys. Don't hate, I know you would kill for something this cool but you shouldn't covet my Arev bottle opener keychain.

Open Up Man (then hit f9)

Oh yeah. Happy birthday Carl.

Our relationship with the wind is often uncertain

A Cyber Hug For JT.

Hey Sheboygan friends. My buddy JT has kindly posted one of my compositions at nosmot.blog. Check it out. and leave some feed back.

Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D artwork or model

It has been a while and I have been sitting on a few of these for awhile but I feel the time has come to share them.

First things first, I posted the Brackenwood films from biteycastle.com before but recently there has been 30 flash animations in 30 days posted. They are very funny and just enough of a taste to make it through until Waterlollies gets made.

Upper right hand corner of the page. Make sure you click on the little green line to get the music playing, it's a really good Gregorian chant style vocal loop.

coldhardflash.com is a flash animation aggregate that has a post nearly everyday.

Nick Cross's Yellow Cake looks to be a good one.

Oh My Gawd!!! Purple and Brown are the side splitting clay duo from the UK that are being aired over at NickToons Network. They are animated by Aardman the folks who brought us Wallace and Gromit.

Might as well check out all of the Aardman site, it is a bit of fun as well.

Lastly, what appears to be an advertising campaign of the 'keep our streets clean' variety for Curitiba directed by my long lost but not forgotten brother Paulo Koglin. Very cute!

Paulo is an exchange brother from Sao Paulo, Brazil I had in high school that was indelible to say the least. He is a talented musician and budding film director, in fact I don't think there is anything this man could not do. Although I do not read Portuguese very well I have spent time at paulokoglin.com and look forward to reading his blog.

Sending cellphone photos of your stolen kidney isn't a good idea

Cellphone pictures from my walk home after work.

EXPLOSIVE.
This is a marker doodle on the back door of the Rite-Aid at 39th and SE Division. I think it is the same person who drew this.

I had kind of posted the '05 Nerd a while back but it appears an '07 has joined it.

Happy First Anniversary Things of the Spirit

Holy Cow. 185 posts later and I am still here. I just realized that today is the first anniversary of 'When Things of the Spirit Come First' blog. I was rooting through old posts to find one I made that I was reminded of as I started this one.

If I recall I mentioned the reason I started this blog but if you don't remember I will remind you now. Last March around my birthday JT got a new camera and handed down to me his old one on the condition I post the pictures I took with them. It was very kind of him and awakened a part of my creativity I hadn't realized I had. Thank you good friend.

***

Anyway, I bore me. Here is the post I intended to make before I realized the significance of it.

I present to you Jessica Delfino and her song My Pussy Is Magic.

***

Oh yeah, here is the post it reminded me of Candy Pants.

The countless feasts laid at my feet, forbidden fruits for me to eat

What my neighborhood looks like after dark while walking, long exposure style. Each up/down or left/right stroke of light is caused by the impact of my feet hitting the sidewalk. I think they look brilliant.
